Chinese New Year!

Xin Nian Kuai Le! Gung Hay Fat Choy!

It's the year of the Ox! We celebrated by attending an FCC (Families with Children from China) event in Portland. We had lunch at the Legin Restaurant, was treated to traditional music and the much loved Dragon Dance!

The food was wonderful and the dance was so much fun to see. Sophia loved it all...she just took it in! She clapped for and danced to the music...it was so cute! There were several vendors with lots of treasures...some of which we got. We also met some really nice families and had great conversations.

It was so wonderful to see all of these beautiful Chinese girls and boys, dressed in traditional outfits, soaking up the wonder of their culture. I look forward to many more years of celebrating the history and culture of Sophia's homeland.

Here are some pictures from the day...

Changes are on the way!

So, I haven't really posted anything further since opening this blog, because I am having a custom blog made! I can't wait for it to be done. It will still be where you are at now, but the layout and look will be different...and I hope you all enjoy it!

I'm thinking it will be a few weeks, but you'll know it when you see it, so keep on coming back to see it happen!

We are all doing well and hope that you are, too! Thanks for dropping by, and for your patience...it will be rewarded!

Sophia's 2nd Birthday!

Sophia is 2!!

Can you believe it? Neither can we!

Time has flown by so fast...it seems only yesterday we were handed a beautiful 9 month old baby girl and now she's 2! It's been an amazing time with her and the transformation from infant to toddler has been a blast.

Sophia has changed in so many ways. She's talking up a storm, she's GROWN by leaps and bounds and her personality is coming through loud and clear. She's so stinkin' smart - somtimes too smart - and her tenderness is so touching.

As of her 2yr check-up, she is 31 pounds and 2'11.5" tall. Yep, you read that right...almost 3 FEET TALL! Here I thought we were going to get a little petite girl...who will now, most likely, tower over me! She's as healthy as they come and is right on track with all areas of development. Her pediatrician is thrilled with her progress and amazed at how she's changed and grown.

To celebrate Sophia turning 2, we had a small, intimate gathering with family and friends. I made her cake, with help from my mom, and we had pizza to celebrate the day.

Below are some pictures from her party. We cannot wait to see what this year has in store, but we are super excited to find out!
